I use all synthetic in my MVVS .45 (20% Cool Power). Goes just fine summer and winter.

Fast, I have read some of DarZelon's posts. He is right on as far as MVVS is concerned. If ya don't trust me trust him. He knows his stuff.

Hello!
Yeah! 15% all synthetic.(French brand...Motul "Micro" ) Some uses even less...around 10% but a very common blend is 15% oil.
It is very common among flyers here in Sweden (and the rest of Europe) to use just 15% synthetic oil.
In my club with 130 members no one uses 20% castor oil any more...well I do when I race but not in my sport engines.

Why shouldn't ABC engines be run on synthetic oil??
This has been done for many years all over the world both in pylonracing as well as in general sportflying......?

Jaka, I've heard of Motul before. It is generally not available in the states. Or it is very hard to find. Yes you can use full synthetic fuel. I however am an old fuddy duddy and will not use fuel without castor in it. I like about 5% castor. I feel the extra inurance on a hot or lean run is worth it. I would however like to try a Motul/castor blend some time. I have heard in several places that Motul is incredible stuff. Just would love to get my hands on some. Just can't find any.

Hello!
Have you tried motorcycle shops or speed shops specializing in dragracing?
I heard a fellow saying in "Glow engines" that he had found a shop in the US that sold Motul...don't remember were ...but I think it was somewhere in California.

I use %100 castor at %18. I get it from morgan fuel for $20 gallon shipped to my door. I get all the methonal I want for free from work
so I can get a lot of flying done for very cheap. When making your own fuel don't forget to add one little spray of Armor All to the
fuel to keep the foaming down...I know it sounds strange but it works great..

MVVS10 GFS/R-ABC-RC (cat # 3090) diesel

Hi,Anyone knowledgeable about the operation of the MVVS 10 GFS/R-ABC-RC (cat #3090) diesel? I bought it used off Ebay and when first run on the stand wasremarkably easy to start and run. I ran it fast and rich for four tanks and theonly irritation was the compression screw rotating out and falling to table. Idid notice it needed the contra-piston screwed all the way down to run and itwas stuck there. I attempted to dislodge the piston but the tools I had in theshad weren't up to the task so I added the shims one at a time but they didn'tseem to make much difference in the over-compressed rattle. The fuel is mystandard mix that works fine in PAW's up to 60 size. After a lay-off of a fewweeks something appears to have changed. I used the same fuel that worked finewith the PAW 29 I ran during that time but now it would only run on the prime.Pulling the 9mm carb showed the passages to be clear and blocking the venturiwith a finger results in fuel flowing from the tank. Someday I may luck into a7mm carb and Davis Diesel head to solve all these problems but for now it wouldbe great to get this beast running will enough to fly.

At the moment I cannot get it to run off awet prime longer than a few seconds, and then only if I cover the venturi withmy finger almost completely. By leaving only a tiny sliver for air toenter I can get it to run slowly and fitfully before it finally dies. To dothat the needle needs to be backed out at least 5 turns! The contra-piston was screwed all the waydown to get it to fire and it stuck there. It needed the shop press to dislodgeit and its still way too tight in spite of being worked up and down in thepress. I removed the shims with little to no difference. It still wants to runin reverse as often as it runs foreword, although the fuel draw seems even moreanemic in reverse.

Finallygrowing tired of the game I put the glow head on with one shim and turned whatwas a *****cat diesel that wouldn't run but never kicked back into a totallyunusable vicious monster. It kicks backHARD with FAI fuel even before it gets close to top center. Added two moreshims, for a total of 3, that did nothing to change its temperament.I suspect a timing problem but with the headremoved and all 4 ports lined up with the liner the notch in the liner pointsjust short of the closest left-hand screw hole with the engine facing me, orapproximately 43 after the hour.Afterall this abuse the rod still shows no slop and the liner is only polished atthe top and around the ports but not yet completely before and after the ports.

Ifanyone has any ideas I'm all ears as this thing is destroying my chicken stickon glow and will not run with either FAI or 5% fuel.
