wow, if you deployed flaps on that airplane, it might never land. I wouldn't do it. You'll end up losing at least half of your ailerons, and that wouldn't be good on that plane either.

The instructions that come with the NexStar show a flap conversion, using two different methods. However, unless you were loading it up with who-knows-what equipment (60 size engine & floats perhaps) there is no way that it needs flaps -- probably not even with another pound or two of weight.
In my opinion, unless you were flying out of a very restricted area, flaps on a NexStar would be an interesting exercise to satisfy your curiosity, but would not really be worth the effort.

I added and extra servo to the wing of my SIG LT-40. I've got flaperons and spoiler. I haven't seen to much difference though due to the airfoil design. I mainly did it to play with the mixing on my 9C. You do loose quite a bit of aileron effectiveness if you over do it. Obviously...

Added flaps to my Nexstar as per instructuions just out of boredom. They are not needed but fun to play with. If you still need to know how to set them up email me and I will send you a copy of the instructions or you can go to the Hobbico web site find the Nexstar and the instruction manual is there complete in a PDF file so you can print it or read online. It's fun and cheap to do except you need a 6 channel radio as the one that comes with the plane is only 4 channel Elevator Throttle, Ailerons, Rudder, the switch is for buddy cord training mode. If this is your first plane adding flaps gets you started with being familiar with mounting servos and setteing them up.
