I am in the process of building my first airplane! it arrived this afternoon. I still have not decided on a ARF trainer yet, but i am sure this will keep me busy for a while. almost done with the horizontal stabilizer!

In our Learn to Fly program we use Tiger 2's as the low wing trainer. It is a great confidence builder. We use Kadet ARF's for primary training. Coupled with an OS .46AX it's a great combination. Check out the Kadet, you won't be sorry.

Dittos on the Kadet, an excellent plane. I have the Tiger 60. I built it as a taildragger, it is a nice flier, but needs a little more room to land, as it comes in a little faster.

It is a great 2nd choice airplane.
After having flown my Hanger 9 Easy 2 for half a summer, I switched to the Tiger 2 this last season and I enjoyed flying it nearly exclusively.
I think after the 2nd time on the trainer cord, I was landing it on my own. It is actually easier to land than a high-wing trainer once you are comfortable with the way it handles in the air. It actually makes you look like a PRO once you get it down, flare and all....

so far there have been a couple pieces of missing wood, which was no big deal. i was able to pick up some basa at the local art supply store. another thing i noticed was the directions call for 29 1/16" bass wood spars- the only bass wood in the box is 33 " i dont have a problem cutting them, i was just wondering if it is common to have inconsistancies in the plans/directions? the other problem is where they tell you to sand out the clearance for the wing pin in the leading edge but the dont give you the orientation. i will be able to go back and figure it out but whats up? is this stuff normal?

it seems that carl goldberg has some trouble packaging and building the tiger 2's right. i know the arf's have quite a few little problems and directions do not match up.
maybe i will go into business making arfs and kits, i could sleep and drink the whole day and have a plane that will sell

sean, The Tiger 2 is a nice plane. I made mine into a taildragger right away with light weight landing gear with the holes drilled into it. Most of the time, even with a very light landing the landing gear just buckles out of shape on touchdown. I bought a fiber glass type as a replacment but haven't tried it yet. Just for info, mount the engine as far forward as you can! You will need it to help balance. I did this and still needed about 2 oz. weight under the fuel tankl.[8D]

yes, there are definatley some ares that need improvment as well as some clarification of directions, but i have not had any real problems.as for the wood quality i have no complaints at all. in fact i have been enjoying the project alot, i end up doing a bit of fabrication in my line of work but i could see how a total novice to any type of kit building/fabrication could have trouble with this kit.
