Put the other half gallon through in the air, but without pushing it...
Starts with one flip... But, likes to be wet... I put fuel straight in the carb...
Tuned mine with a tach... Seems to love to be lean...
Plenty of power...
Check other posts for more tuning information...
Have fun...

Somewhere along the line, STs in the 40-45 range came over with carb. intakes that are just a bit too big. At one time ST supplied a restrictor to insert in the carb and that made it much more easy to handle. I have some with and some without.
If you have trouble with the transition from idle to full throttle, the restrictor may be the answer. Just did a 40 and changed a @#*%XX into a sweet machine. Take a piece of tubing, brass or alum., that fits into the carb. Remove the spray bar assembly and the idle needle. drill a hole to fit spray bar through the sides of the tubing. Insert tubing then reassemble the carb. You may lose a few RPMs but it will stop the transition trouble as the high-speed will not be so rich that it will flood the engine in the early transition.
In addition, I suggest you don't try to run the engine with the muffler all the way in on the pipe unless you cut off the pipe a bit.

I have 6 ST in action. Best bang for your buck. They where all I used until I got into speed and now use the Rossi, MVVS, and Jett, but you will pay $ for those. One thing that Is a MUST is the barrel screw that the barrel is held in place and moves and rotates. Vibration will cause the screw to loosen and cause the barrel to lock where ever it is when it locks. Full, half or idle throttle. I have seen 2 planes crash because of this problem and several caught on the ground before take off. A Extra 300 60 and a P-51 Mustang 40 hit because of the problem. Use red lock tight to hold the screw in place. As far as the crab. It is fine. Never have I nor the member at my club had a transition issue with the crab tuned right and polished. Take the barrel and give it a good polishing and the air hole as well. Also take the High and Low needle pins and polish them as well to remove any small burs from the factory. Polish NOT GRIND OR SAND. The needle are very precise and just need to be polished. The red lock tight can be removed with heat. It is stronger than the blue, but I would use one or the other. If you don't Lock tight the screw, remember I told you so. Because sooner or later the screw WILL come lose and lock the barrel. If you need me to I can post a photo of what I am talking about.
Polish the barrel
Polish high and low needles
put the card together
RED LOCK TIGHT the barrel screw
Break in
GOOD TO GO The Super Tigre is a great engine.
GOOD LUCK

The one peice of advice I have to give beside the above advice is to take your time and be patient.. The St engines LOVE a long break in.. I "Taxied" a gallon through mine before she ever flew(ST G51)... Run them ALOT before you try to lean them out and I promise it'll give you great performance! Mine turns an APC 11x6 at 14,010 RPMS! Also it has sat without being turn over for 4 months and canked right up the first time!. The Only time Its EVER Flamed out on me was when it ate a june bug and even then after we sucked it out it fired right up.. Also Mine runs 44 minutes on an 8 ounce tank of fuel. I Just bought #2 an ST G2300!

I have a 1/4 chimpmunk. I was looking at the ST 2300. It calls for a 18x6 to 18x10. How does the engine perform with that huge prop.
Thanks

Iv'e had and have a few Super Tigers. Just run a couple tanks through it, tune it up and fly it. Anuthing more than that is a waste of fuel and flying time. That set screw on the carb can be removed. I file it down just a bit to get the burrs off the edges or it can catch. The 45 is a very good engine and as powerful as a 46fx or TT46pro.

Snoop,
I have a Super Tiger 51 in my Twist. Runs great but noisy as heck. Has this huge muffler but makes an awful tat-tat-tat racket. Are they all like that?

Snoop Doggy Bag, is right. Vibration can (will) cause the screw to loosen, then it will slip out of the grove and cause the barrel to lock in what ever position it is in. For example, you do a hammerhead and chop the throttle. hit the gas a nothing. BOOM, crash thinking what went wrong. Only cost about 3cents.Please lock tight the set screw?[

Ice Man, I traded for a new 2300 today. Plane is far from ready. Please, keep me posted?
