Default Engine Plumbing for Dummies

Hey folks - how should my engine be plumbed:
Fuel tank to engine, muffler nipple back into fuel tank?
If I've got this right, why doesn't the return from the muffler line pollute the fuel in the tank and should a filter be used in the return pressure line?

When I've got everything running smoothly and decide to install my Harry's Smoker, do I install another nipple on the muffler and how do I avoid the kerosene being dumped into the muffler from going into my glow tank through the other muffler nipple?

And should I block one output of the pitts?
(I'm running an HP Gold Cup .61 with a pitts style muffler hose-clamped on)

My understanding is that...

You are only taking a feed from the Muffler to the Fuel tank to create pressure... Nothing is actually blown into the Fuel tank... The Tap for the pressure line is usually in the top of the muffler which helps anything being blown in and really from experience nothing, or next to nothing, is every blown back into the fuel... Not enough to be a problem anyway...

Maybe a little bit of oil, but that's of no concern...

There are a lot of posts on making smoke... But unless your Pitts Muffler is a Smoke type Muffler you will need to Tap it right by the Manifold to obtain the most heat, which makes the smoke... If it is already a smoke muffler it will have a Tap...

I doubt anything much will be blown into your fuel tank as there should not be enough liquid in the muffler...

Although you are going to really struggle to make a .61 Smoke...

Sukhoi is correct - You'll need to tap the muffler with another pressure nipple as close to the engine's exhaust port as possible.

As far as I know, you need to use a "smoke Muffler" with a smoke system. They have a coil inside to preheat the smoke oil.

Even if the fuel gets a little contaminated with exhaust oil, there will not be enough to effect the running of the engine.

You don't need a smoke muffler, Any muffler can work.
