Went to fly yesterday and fuel leaked out of tank took tank out and saw it is just a rubber stopper and it seems to be loosely fitting back in hole, Couple of questions put cornstarch powder to soak up and dry fuel in fuselage OK? reciever and servos got damp with fuel as insulation around them soaked in fuel. looks like they are working ok would this hurt them? Any ideas how to fix tank would ca around stopper seal it or will fuel decay glue or should I see if hobbico has a tank to fit any ideas or advice aprecciated.

For what it's worth, you could try checking your local hobby shop to see if they have a Sullivan (or comparable) tank. These tanks have a metal plate behind the stopper and a screw that you can tighten to really seal the tank at the stopper. I am not familiar with this particular plane so this is the best I can offer.
Hope it helps,

Retighten the compression plate in the stopper (just tighten the center screw in the tank stopper). Your receiver & servos should be ok (wipe off the gunk). Cornstarch will help in soaking up the fuel in the fuselage, but at some time in the future you are going to have some problems there -- a bit of surgery to replace tyhe damaged material will be necessary (this could be several years away if you are lucky).

I highly recommend that any area that fuel can get to be fuelproofed before 1st flight. There are several methods that are commonly used. I mix up some 30 minute epoxy, and then slowly add alcohol to thin it (use as little alcohol as possible). Other people use a heat gun to thin the epoxy. which way is better is a topic for a heated debate. Brush the thinned epoxy on all surfaces that might come in contact with fuel or are subjected to exhaust (the wood will soak up unspent oil).
The added weight is negligable as compared to what an unprotected plane might weigh a couple of years down the road. Clear dope can be substituted for epoxy. I'm sure there are other "favorite" fuelproofing materials and methods out there.
This method works best for me.

My nexsatr did the same thing the other day. I couldnt figure out why the engine would not run. I finally had it runnung very rich and did the vertical test. Well when I put it veritcal, 6 ounces of fuel sloshed through the fuse. I just dumped it out, let it sun dry while I fixed the tank. Just wipped the mouth clean with a towel and tightened as hard as I could. Flew like a champ after that.

The next thing to go will be fuel line, mine just kept splitting till I replaced it. It split at muffler and needle valve, I cut it back but it wasn't long before it split again. Jim
