I use staples brand #64 rubber bands. They are not good quality...they soak up fuel like a sponge then break...

Take the rubber bands and put them into a jar with some baby powder in it and keep the lid on it. Helps keep them nice and clean and rubbery

I already do that myself. Think I used to use corn starch yearssssssssss ago, can't remember any more for sure.
