I installed a brand new TT .61 GP in my also new Hangar-9 Miss America P-51. It seems my tower hobbies starter dosen't have the juice to turn it over which is mostly just an aggravation. I have it mounted upside down and an OS #8 plug. The center of the tank is just about a quarter inche above the carb needle. I've never mounted an engine upside down and it won't start after a million flips with the stick... so... am I flooding it or is it just new... do I need to take it off and bench run it? or just take it to the field an hope that one of the nice folks there has a more powerful starter... any ideas or guidance would be mucho appreciated...

Starting a brand new 61 inverted on the airplane sounds like alot of fun
. The best approch would be to remove it and run it in on the bench. Otherwise set the plane in a cradle upside down so the engine can be started upright. A heat gun on the head will make it less tight so the poor tower starter has a chance to turn it over. You will have alot more luck starting it like this for at least the first flight of the day.
