More power than the LA, lasts longer, very tight, takes longer the break-in, but the normal method is "run the snot out of 'em." Put a 10-6 on it and go. Don't expect a really good low end for a while until it loosens up. It and the .61GP (really a .65) are Thunder Tiger's best kept secrets.

It is a good engine but why buy it when the best engine made is the Thunder Tiger Pro 46. It has much more power than the 42 (much more) and only cost a little more and will last forever.

I have had two (2) of them and was pleased with the performance. I had problems with the break-in. Each time I took the glow ignitor off, the engine would die. I ran two (2) tanks of fuel through them with the ignitor attached and had no more problems. I had an OS-40PF, arguably one of the most popular engine ever produced and the Thunder Tiger GP42 has been far superior in every way.

Got two of them & they work very well. Loads better than an LA .40 that I also had, & very similar to an LA .46 that I just recently acquired -- except that it is easier to tune than the .46 LA. It winds up better than the .46 LA with a 10-6, but the LA is a bit better with a 10-7. The TT 42 also swings an 11-4 very effectively.
