Begginers Electric plane

I was wondering that if the Megatech Megastealth is a good begginers electric plane any respnce good or bad is good.
And if anyone can post a club near me that would be greater thx!!!

Most of the old Megatech stuff had a serious flaw.
That being all the equipment (radio included) was only good for "that" particular airplane. It really did not lend itself to being able to be used on the next airplane. The Megatech electrics do not have a strong following. Some people have made them work, but for the money, IMHO you would be better off with a different airplane.
If you want a trainer electric I suggest a T-52.
If you already know how to fly then I suggest a Zagi for a first electric.

Tigermoth or Soarstar are two of the electric slowflyers that have the biggest following among beginners.
I assembled a Megatech Merlin using a GWS flightpack, (and thus avoided the radio issues) and was quite happy.
Keep in mind that there are many electrics that are extremely hard to fly before you go out and get one.

I just noticed you also posted about a warbird for your second plane.
Most of the replies seemed to focus on glow powered planes as opposed to electrics.
Please note I own and fly both there is a difference between an electric parkflyer and a glow powered plane. Learning how to fly a parkflyer DOES NOT necessarily mean you will be able to successfully fly a glow powered plane.
Please seek experienced help at a local club.

You find THEY are as anti-Slimer (glow) as RCU is anti-electric.
I happen to do both and find them to be almost different hobbies. Especially in terms of cost sharing.

You may have been successful in chasing someone from RCU and may have started / continued /whatever a glow v electric rant. Haven't you noticed that there is a really good electric forum here on RCU?Sorry Flyer29er, I have no experience with the MegaStealth so I cannot answer your question. My only advice, get yourself your AMA card and go along to your local club. You will receive some good (and bad) advice from the club members. Also check the electric forum on RCU...they have helped me when I was asking about electric planes. Not all of us glow heads are, quote "anti-electric". To find a club near you then go to the AMA site

I don't think exposing anyone to the other board would drive them away. I regularly haunt four different sets of boards.
However, I stand by my statement that RC Universe is as anti-electric as EZone is anti-slimer based on the number of "Why would you want to mess with electrics/slimers? posts you would get on either board.
Its not the boards, but the most vocal group of users that causes the perceived bias.
I personally dislike the zealotry that pervades this hobby. Just say ARF vs. KIT and you'll see what I mean.
Finally, having outfitted both electric and gas planes, its two almost entire different sets of stuff, except for the radio. Both are about equally expensive as well. HOWEVER, both are just as fun, but in a somewhat different way.

My Feedback: (1)
Some folks want to fly, but don't want to mess around with any kind of combustable fuel. I met a doctor who told me that his wife perfered him not to come home smelling of fuel/oil. I can understand this completely. We also have to consider the fact , that , if it gets on your hands, it will probably also be absorbed into the skin. I have no idea what this might do over a long period of time. Im a mechanic, so I could care less about a little fuel/oil in my system, but thats me. The doctor I mentioned eariler, had 3 or 4 very nice larger (not park fliers) electric planes that flew as well and fast as the glow versions, however, he also had around 15 battery packs. At 40.00 to 50.00 each, not to mention the supporting equiptment, Well, lets just say that his toys cost alot more than mine. Over a long period of time, glow fuel is not cheap eighter, but , I can afford the 15.00 a week payments. I love the smell of glow fuel in the mourning.........
