Went out to fly yesterday and when i went to land i was too far and lost it in the trees!!
I went to look for it, of course the motor had died so now help there. Tried to use the servo noise to locate it but the woods are thick and noisy. I know it is in a tree but you just cant see up that far, any ideas???

Keep looking! By now, the rx battery is most likely dead, so the servos won't be working anymore. Get a helper. Stand where you were standing when it went in, and direct your helper to the general area. Lots of times, we begin looking in the wrong place because we get disoriented on where we think it went down. Don't overlook the possibility that it might have fallen to the ground, so look everywhere. You might even get a BIG spotlight, go out at dusk or dawn, when the sun isn't as bright, and start pointing that bright light up in the trees. The spotlight might reflect off of the covering and catch your attention--like a mirror of sorts. During the day, the sun would be doing this, but from above--no help to you. Just some thoughts.

keep looking or just leave it untill the wind blows strong or the leaves fall off, it'll be trashed by then
or get a camera on a plane and fly over it and see if you can find it, if all else fails climb to the top of a tree and hope thats the one!

I feel for ya I did the same thing only mine was in a hundred plus foot pine at the very top in plane site HA! Taunting me. Well being to old climb the dm tree I waited for the wind to blow it down. Well would'nt you know no wind for about three weeks now. So when the wind did blow, it was from the east durning a small t storm and blew the plane into the oak next to the pine about fifty feet lower. Taunting me once again. Gods a trickster. So now there it is sitting peacfully ina hand. Best way of describing the tree branch that seemed to reach out and hold on to it. I check it every day to see if it has moved and it has, deeper in to the hand that is holding it. Now the wings are beginning to seperate from the joiner spar and with any luck and god should smile on me. Ahmm! It may come out of there when the wings finally seperate. Of coarse it is going to hit the ground like a missle but I'll have whats left. What ever that maybe.

Gonna try and get one of the guys in the club to fly over the "forest" that it is in and see if he can locate it from above, it is the superstar trainer so it should be easy to spot!! If not the when and if winter comes I may be able to find whats left of the plane and all the rusted parts!![:@]

For next time you may want o look into one of those gizmos that goes into the plane and connects into an unused channel. It makes a noise when your transmitter is turned off and isn't receivng a signal. It will run until the receiver battery dies. I found one at TH that you can check out. Follow the link below.

C-tronics also makes a locater that makes a sound when the tx is turned off. I use a couple of them and have been glad to have them a couple of times. My wife also uses one on her parajumper. c-tronicsinc.com. ENJOY !!!! RED
