So i finally got around to picking up some servos today, and finished up the ElectroStreak ARF I bought 2 weeks ago.
Took her to a secluded place for the first flight, half expecting an instant nose dive...to my pleasant surprise, she flew right out of my helper's toss with no issues...circled twice, put her in the grass, and headed to the club airfield.
Flew the thing 5 times this afternoon...2nd flight was PLANNED to be a long trim flight, but again to my pleasant surprise, the ONLY trim needed was 2 notches of left aileron...brought her down, gave each aileron clevis 1.5 turns, and poof...straight and level hands off.
I then proceeded to fly the living daylights out of her, and was even brave enough to toss in a couple of hammerheads and sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow rolls by the 4th flight.
I have to say...this is a SWEET flying plane. Plenty quick, very aerobatic (even in my inexperienced hands), but considerably more forgiving than a pattern plane or low wing...inexpensive ($120, includes a beefy motor and motor controller), and not at all difficult to finish the build...space is a little cramped in the servo compartment for the last stages of construction, but nothing unreasonable. Hi-Tec HS-81 servos provide PLENTY of authority, and the pull pull rudder controls (one of the few electrics with pull-pull, so I'm told) make Mr. Rudder 'heap big friend'.
In summary, it appears to have been a terrific '2nd plane' for me so far, and I highly reccomend it as a fun little 'grab and go' afternoon flyer.
