I just bought a 90 inch PT 19 off of a friend, and it was complete with a smoke system. However, he said the smoke pump didn't work. Upon inspection, I found that the motor in the pump worked fine, it was the pump itself that was froze up. While trying to unfreeze it, I broke the pump where it connects to the shaft. My question is this, can I buy just the pump, or do I have to buy the whole thing? Do they even make this pump anymore? It's a Jones universal motorized pump (that's what's on the case). I don't want to spend 70 dollars on a sullivan. I could do the windshield wiper thing, but my brother had zero luck with that. Any suggestions? Thanks

2 Slow,
You can get basically the same thing you have there, right here:

That is the pump I use for my Smoke Systems.
Have you read "Got Smoke?"

How much break in is required? I got mine to running and even bought a 6 volt battery to run the smoker with and it still wouldn't keep it running after a short while... Maybe It's me...

I just crap canned the smoke system for now. I'm going to worry about making sure it doesn't smoke as a heap of kindling before I worry about it smoking in the air (if you know what I mean).

2Slow,
A 4.8v pack shoud run the motor very well. The pump has 4 screws on the black plastic side. You may need to loosen them a bit.
BUT, it's a carefull adjustment - if you loosen them too much, the pump will suck air and won't pump.
The best way to do it is to back all 4 of the screws out one full turn, then retighten them 7/8 turn (if possible, do this while the pump is runnng and pumping water) Repeat if necessary.
You want it to be as tight as possible but still running smoothly. Eventually you will find the spot where the pump works well (not sucking air) and runs smoothly.
