Hi, i have just removed a rx to put in another plane and the aerial has chaffed so i have lost about 2 inches off the aerial, just wondering how much this will affect performance. I am thinking about doing a range check and if ok to use as is. What are your thoughts? Thanks Lee.

There are a lot of differing opinions concerning this topic. Some will say that 2" won't matter, some will say it will. Your best bet would be to repair it back to it's original length. Better safe than sorry.
Hope this helps

They are correct in that the effect of losing 2" will be minimal but I recommend repairing it. It is easy to solder on a short piece and then put on a piece of heat shrink tubing to strain relieve the repair. Everthing you need is available at LHS or Radio Shack.
