I picked up a OS Max -S .30. I was told that they are no longer made but, they perform quite well. A guy told me to use a 25% oil mixture in fuel. And, to be easy handed when using an electric starter because of no steel shim behind thrust washer. Actually, its better to just flip the prop on it. Anyone with any tips on this engine? Its going on an old MEN Trainer.

Hi!
I good engine!
25% oil is not necessary...I used some of these years ago and 20% castor oil will be fine (5-10%nitro).
A 10x4 or 10x5 APC will do fine too.

I agree, 25% oil is way over kill and probably would hinder the performance. Use a good quality fuel with a minimun of 18% oil. 20% is the highest I would go.

I know I will take some hits on this, but I would only use an idle bar glow plug on this old engine. Otherwise you might have a hard time getting the engine to transition from idle to full throttle. That's been my experience with old Max engines. Fox makes a nice idle bar plug. Good luck!
