Has anyone tried laying up a glass fiber wing skin on a flat surface and then managed to glue it to the ribs etc. on a built up wing.

Why not sheet it with 1/32 balsa first then go over it with a light glass cloth. I would think that would be much stronger.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Kevin, Thanks for your reply. I should have explaned. I wish to sheet a plug-in wing for a delta and the total area is in excess of 12 sq.feet. which this side of the pond =a Balsa Forest. As i have a good supply of glass cloth and epoxy I was wondering if anyone had devised a system of glueing skins to open framework.

Can you fill in the voids (between the ribs) with a foam structure and then cover that with fiberglass?

I just don't think you'll get any strength from fiberglassing an open bay structure.

In any case, good luck,

Kevin
