Thought I would post some pics I just received from one of the guys in my club. These guys scratch build their warbirds and as you can see from the pics they are simply awsome. The person next to the partially assemble P-51 designed, built and flew the models used in the movie "The Right Stuff"

Every time I see planes that size I am reminded of how much of a "production" every flight is. They're fun to watch, but for me, way too much work. I love my little .15 and .25 size planes that fit in the trunk or back seat with the wing attached.

This is exactly the reason I like to build, because I would love to have the skill someday to be able to build something like those, and know that I did it myself. I may never get to that skill level, but I will keep trying, and have fun along the way. Thanks for the great photos! I truly enjoyed them.

talk about BIG you could probably fit all of my planes just in the corsair's wing lol that must of been a long build i hope they don't crash it or else they can say goodbye to a chunk of their life and if it does crash well at least they'll have enough wood to make a bonfire lol

Great warbirds there! Sort of a neat coincidence also... I've got a cousin in California that does aircraft special effects work also. He designed, built and flew a 1/6th scale B-25 for the crash sequences in the Doolittle raid scenes for the movie "Pearl Harbor", the Harrier jets and Hueys in "True Lies", all of the miniatures for the TV series "Airwolf", and a huge list of others. I've never got to meet him, but I hope to get out there one of these days. It would be great to get to fly with someone with his experience and expertise. You can go to www.ljmp.com and check out some of his work. There's some pretty cool stuff on there.

I'm not sure of the scale...I would guess roughly 1/3.
These guys build their big planes from a high density foam, so their is really very little ply/balsa in the plane.
I was told, but can't verify because I wasn't at the field when these pics were taken, that the corsair has a 250 cc inline twin cylendar gas engine. When I see Bob (the builder of the corsair) at the field tomorrow I'll ask him what size motor he has in it.

...I cant even think about that
