Default guestion on engine leak....

hello,
I recently noticed that after running my os .46 on my nexstar and then letting it sit over night it leaks fuel from the crank shaft...this only happens when I dont run the engine dry(I just empty the fuel tank)....is this normal?..the crank doesnt seem to have any play in it..and it runs fine....

you might be getting oil left over in the exhaust from running if it is black.if the front seal bearing is leaking you would have vacuum problems, and usually see it coming out from the seal bearing after a flight.use some sort of after run oil when you are finished for the day unless you know you are going right back out next day.i like to clean my engines pretty good when I'm finished for the day.rubbing alcohol from the dollar store and they have both 70 and 90% usually.hope this helps some happy flying

It won't hurt a thing. I've had several engines of different brands that leaked a little like that.

The worst 'Fix's are the ones that don,t have a problem in the first place.

I have a similar situation with an Os 61fx except it leaks black oil out of the back plate on the bottom. It still runs fine and the bolts are tight so I just wipe it off and don't worry about it.

my TT .46 pro leaked after the first day of use just like your engine is doing but the leaking stopped after the next day of use. perhaps its something that happens to new engines during the break in process? (many new parts working together for the first time)

just my 2 cents

John
