My First Instructing Job HELP!!!

As RCKEN often says, you need to establish communications guidelines. ie When I say turn right, I ALWAYS mean to the airplanes right as it is flying. NEVER as viewed from our perspective on the ground.

That's a good point too. Sometimes in the beginning stages, especially with kids, it helps to say something like "push the stick to the right".
But I was noting that kids and even adults will simply get right and left confused when they're under stress. You'll say "push the stick to the right" and they'll push it to the left
Best you can do is "oops, your other right"

I'm the training coordinator for our club and a new instructor. I just started flying last year, but have lots of time under my belt since then. Our senior instructor recommended I become an instructor, since many of the lessons are still fresh in my mind. One thing I've found very helpful with a new student is to "keep flying the plane" even though the student has control. By that I mean, I keep moving my sticks in the direction I think the student should be moving them. I also keep my throttle setting a few clicks higher than the student. That way when I take control back, recovery is much quicker. The buddy box has turned out to be VERY easy, and I would recommend anyone that is an experienced pilot consider trying it as an instructor. You'll get to fly more planes as well!

.... You will also have to keep him away from the field "idiots" that will try to take over and interfere with his training. ....

AMA requires that each field has at least one. Part of the charter I think.
Ice Man - Who's gonna be more nervous on the first flight? You or your student?
