Hello,
I was removing one of my trainers from the car and part of the antenna was stuck under my flight box. When I removed the plane from the car, SNAP!...about 4 or 5 inches of the end of the antenna was ripped off. Does this affect the range at all? Should I solder it back together? Or does it even matter? Any suggestions or past experience would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

yes, solder it back and shrink wrap it, also make sure it didnt break any where else that you cant see through the coating, (range check the heck out of it)no glitches!!

Unfortunately, I don't belong to a club. Just me, my father in law and his 28 acres, so Ill be repairing this one myself. Soldier and shrinkwrap....doesn't sound too difficult. You mentioned "Doing it correctly" is there anything else I should know before I get started?

It's a very simple fix. Just avoid overlaping too much (About 1/8" should do it)
If you're a soldering rookie, here's a quick "How To"

If you've soldered before, no prob.

Hi Bob,
While we can not recommend that anyone change their receiver wire, as this can cause serious problems such as loss of reception and major interference issues, and also void any warranty that you may have on your radio system.
But, if you are very good with a soldering iron, you should replace the COMPLETE antenna at the board, not just solder at the cut. Also after doing so, do a thorough ground check, you would want to look for 22 gauge wire, and the length will be:
approximately 19 1/2" for surface
approximately 39 1/2" for Air
Sincerely,
Krysta
