From: , MD,
If I'm using a 12x6 prop now and I want to go to a 3-blade prop what do I get? Is there some easy conversion? I've never tried using a 3-blade before so I have no clue what to expect. Thanks in advance for any help!

The general rule is to drop 1 inch off the diameter and keep the same pitch. Using your 12X6 as a reference, you will be looking for an 11X6 3 blade and(if you are using one) a 3 blade spinner

In general terms a 3 blade prop will do more for looks than performance. The main reason to go for a 3 blade prop other than looks is if you really need the ground clearance by having a shorter prop. [8D]

I had heard down an inch in pitch and diameter.
I know a 10x6 3-blade really lugged a Enya 40CX that would scream on a 10x6 two blade.
I went to an 11x6 two blade and still got way more RPM than the 10-6 3 blade
