Default Superstar 40 ARF - Horizontal Stabilizer?

I recently finished building (or rather, "assembling") this plane, and everything was fine and trimmed out well - except that, despite my measurements, it looks like the horizontal stab is slightly misaligned. It is centered, horizontal, and normal to the vertical stab, but one leading edge is slightly close to the corresponding wing's trailing edge, than the other. It is noticeable visually if you look for it, but not too bad.

Will this cause any issues in flight? I haven't flown the model yet, but it's a trainer, not a pattern plane. I could fix it, but it might be hard since it's in there now with epoxy.

It will have a minor impact on the trimming of the plane & it will cause it to roll slightly with elevator inputs. However, it should be entirely manageable -- you may not even notice it.

Yes, it's going to affect the way the plane flies. But you should be able to adjust for that by adjusting the trim on the plane to compensate for it. Life and learn!

Thanks for the replies.

Would it be worth trying to heat up the epoxy at the joint and move the stab, or would that weaken the joint too much?

It could be worth a try --- except that you will have glued the bottom of the fin to the stab inside the tail & won't be able to heat that bit.

Just go fly it & don't look at it anymore, or it will drive you crazy.

Took it up 5 times yesterday and it flew perfectly after the instructor trimmed it. Very easy to fly as long as you pay attention and keep track of your orientation and the plane's attitude. Instructor landed it for me, but I'll try some landings next weekend.

My vertical stab actually came loose after the 3rd flight - had to do some surgery at the field with good quality thick CA, and will probably debond and reattach it with epoxy this week since it's a little off now.
