--sorry for english--[:-]
Never having flown RC before, 20 days ago i bought an aerobitd xtreme, the guy in the hobby shop said "is perfect for beginners..." the CD nad manual says "THIS IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS!"
I downloaded the flight model simulator, good sotfware but i was afraid and i didnt fly my xtreme,,, i saw a post here in this forum that says " the perfect plane for beginners is the aerobird chellenger,
i am living in costa rica, here the planes are too expensives. xtreme $300 and challenger $240... but i want to learn!
i said,, ok! this is my christmas gift.. and i bought an aerobird challenger!
the challenger is lighter and smaller! perfect for me!
We went this morning at 7 am with my brother,,, 2 perfects stupids in aeronautical.
checking the range...ok
checking wings, motor, and all this stuff..... ok
perfect,, i want to take off from the grass,,,,,, IMPOSSIBLE! the grass is too tall (3 or 4 cms)
throwing with my hands [
] Scary,,, but is ok
i throw the challenger,,, in to the wind,,, and fly!,, yes! its flying!
!!!!! I AM THE MASTER OF THE RADIO CONTROLLE.......OOOOPS...... A TREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
crash! from 10 mts to the ground directly to a little puddle!!!, NOOO my $240!!! i mean my aerobird challenger! a little of sun, napkins and the plane is perfect!
no serious injuries
again!.... flying,, flying,, flying,,, 10 mts, 20 mts, 30 mts,,, how #$%% can i land my plane,, its too windy,,, i turn off the engine 2 or 3 seconds and the plane starts to lose altitude... great!
where is the best place to landing? here! the grass is smaller!
i like this hobby!
.... perfect landing,, i am happy,, my brother too.. and here are the pictures,,, sorry for quality (phone pics)

Well done on your first flight, I enjoyed your story. It would have been sad if the model got stuck in the tree! I saw a video on the internet of a guy who flew the plane into a tall tree and then took a chainsaw and cut the tree down!

What a great story!
The video was goo too. Great landing. Was it a little faster than you anticipated? Looked like you about lost a wing there right before landing--but you had a good save! Great landing! Keep up the good work.

LOL!!! That was great! Even with the low res, the video was a blast to watch. A good beginning to a great story.
Well done! I'm sure you've seen in here a # of times we all reccomend not trying to fly on your own, & getting an Instructor, (especially if ya have dumb thumbs like me
), but in some cases like yours where there is no available help, you just gotta go for it. You did and you did it well, congrads to you & your Brother. I believe RcKen owes you an official attaboy!
