As the title says whats the difference between FM and PCM radios? I have a Futaba T7CHP radio that is PCM that I am sending off for repairs, depending on if they can fix it and how much its going to be, the other option after they tell me the prognosis of the radio is to buy another one. I want to buy another Futaba 7C since I am already familiar with it. But it comes in either PCM and FM, the FM is about 50 bucks cheaper. All I fly are slimer planes. Whats the pros and cons?

pulse code modulation uses the same fm signal [ppm] and most pcm transmitters can be programmed to use either pcm or ppm[regular fm] so you can buy the less expensive recievers.the pcm rx will go into fail safe if it does not recieve the proper signal or just ignore any improperly coded signals till it gets the correct one that is why they can reject interference that fm cannot.i prefer to use pcm on my scale and multi engine planes,i use am or fm on my sport planes.

anyway, back to the post. what you are seeing there is which RX comes with the transmitter. that transmitter, and any modern pcm transmitter, is always capable of transmitting ppm data also.
