Default Li-Poly Safe box.

Some of you might know this. I have received a wonderfull scale arf electric plane that happens to use a lipo battery. I was just wondering, how do you charge yours? Some people have special boxes that they put their batteries in. I was just wondering how do you make it?

Charge with a Triton. It will charge anything.

Go to the Army depot and get an ammo box for the lipos.

I charge the pack in a pyrex baking dish. A heavy duty zip-loc bag filled with sand sits on top. In the event of combustion the sand will drop down onto the pack.

The Pyrex or even a ceramic pot is more in order than a ammo box. The explosion part is not as significant as the resulting fire. The metal ammo box may cause shorting itself.

I got one of these for Christmas.

I too have used an ammo box but I suspect if there is an explosion the lid would be thrown off plus I don't think you want to latch it closed. Another thing to consider is that the ammo box is going to get very hot and catch anything it's sitting on that's combustible on fire.
I'm not connected with this company in anyway and discoverd the product when it was shown in Model Aviation an issue or so ago.
The lid interlocks with the container itself but has venting that would allow gases to escape rather than bust it.

I saw these little ceramic pots at the hobby shop last week. They are just a decorated clay pot with the venting features previously described. They should work very well.

Enjoy,

Jim

tIANci,
Let's just drive around with a drink in one hand and run all the stop signs and red lights without our seatbelts!
The odds are in our favor right?
