Hi Guys,
Just completeing my first plane and have problems with Rudder throws.Ive mounted the horns exactly where the instructions stated and find that my throw in one direction will met the 19mm spec but the other direction i only get 5mm.I know why if im not mistaken and wonder why others havnt mentioned it.It appears that the thickness of the rudder compared to the Fuse is to thin.Consequently when the horn is mounted the portion that has the holes touches the fuse just below the bottom hole.I was just going to turn it around but saw a post that said the hole should align with the hinge so thats not a good idea.Packing of the control horn seems to be my only choice.
Ive enclosed a pic of the area from a review image.Ive arrowed the area that is contact with fuse on my plane. My control horn looks very much like theirs. So the only conclusion i can come to is that the rudder thickness is to thin. Why havnt so many others complained.
Packing seems to be my only choice, has anyone else noticed this .Any comments to help out someone whos knows little would be very nuch appreciated.Ive read many posts and have learned alot. Thanks to all.

Not sure what you mean when you say 'packing the control horn'. I would guess you mean adding a piece of wood or something under the control horn to move it away from the rudder. But that's not really necessary. Just use your razor knife and cut away some of the control horn so it doesn't touch the fuselage. You won't need to use the lowest (closest to the rudder) hole anyway.
Something else I would mention though, it doesn't look like there is very much of the pushrod screwed into the clevis for the rudder. Make sure that clevis will not come off the pushrod. You don't want to lose control of the rudder while in flight.
Try to get all the control surfaces as straight as you can with mechanical adjustments (twisting clevises, adjusting servo arms, etc.). Then make the final small adjustments with the radio trims. Good Luck!

Your right about adding a what you call a packing between the control horn and rudder I have added just enough wood spacer to clear the fuse. It's OK now. Just do it!!!!

Good luck with it dude,

Edit to add: Before you fly that thing you may want to smooth out the wrinkles in the covering with a heat gun. It will still fly without doing it but it will give a better overall impression if you take it to the flying field without all of those wrinkles. That is just my opinion and it is probaly worth crap....

No the screws on mine was long enough no problem , in fact I can also use the lower control hole and it will not touch the fuse. but I have never alter the control horn to clear the fuse, but if someone has tried it and it did not weaken the part then it must be OK.

Iwik, Iwould bring in the rudder clevice 2 holes closer to the rudder to give the rudder more throw. Especially if you are flying from a grass strip. I have trained 3 students in the last year with that model , and had to do that adjustment to all of them. If your radio has expo, then put in 40%expo to ease the stick movement around centre. The model will love it and so will your instructor, hence so will you .Happy flying and smooth landings , it is a good model to fly .
