I have an Accu-cycle Elite charger. What is the guide line for charging receiver batteries?

If I have a 4.8 volt 1400 mah battery what can I charge it at? I set it for a charge rate of 1 amp is this ok?

If some one has this charger and would like to help me out I would appreciate it.

I am not familiar with your particular charger. But you can certainly charge a 1400 mAh pack at one amp. It should take about 1.4 hours (perhaps a little longer) to charge it fully, assuming it was totally discharged to begin with. Typical charging current for 1400 mAh pack would be 140 mA for ten hours (slow charge) or 1.4 amps for one hour (fast charge).

Set it for 4 cells, 1400 mah capacity and let the charger decide the rate.

Edit: Expanding a bit on this. When I first got mine, I went through all the settings looking at charge rates, cutoffs, etc. After playing around with it for a while I figured out that the charger did a good job of selecting the rates based on the battery capacity.

Set the charger for 1.4 amps to quick charge, or set it to .15 or 150ma to charge overnight.

Thanks for the info. I was chargeing at 1.0 to 1.4 at the field and someone said I would burn up the battery. I just bought some 2100 mah so 2.1 amps would be ok.

Do not forget, to get the most out of either a NiCad or NiMh, you should do at least one, preferably three, forming charges. This is doing a 0.1C charge for 16 hours with a discharge at 0.2C to 0.25C to 1 volt/cell between charges. This should be done on any new battery or one that has sat idle for a month or two.
