I am new to rc planes and i wanted to know if you need a licence to fly a plane. Also if i could learn to fly by my self, there are no instructers in my area.

You said there are no instructors in your area. How about other people who fly ? I am certain one of them would be happy to help you. If you don't know of anyone else who flys, talk to your local hobby shop. I know they can direct you to someone. I would also check the Canadian AMA. If they are anything like the one here in the states they should have a listing of clubs in your area.

Without an instructor (or someone who knows how to fly ), the life expectancy of your Hanger 9 trainer is going to be about 30 seconds. A simulator (FMS. Realflight, etc. ) will help, but A SIMULATOR WILL NOT TEACH YOU HOW TO FLY. If you have no alternative but to learn on your own, I suggest an electric - something like the Easy Star http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXFXV0&P=ML is relatively easy to fly and pretty hard to destroy since it is all foam.

Flying a plane is a skill. Any new skill takes time to learn. How long is different for every person. I have seen people solo after 3 sessions and I have seen people take 2 years before they are able to solo.

Hills are not neccesarily impediment to flying. heard of slope soaring? not like power exactly but better than not flying. either way dont make assumptions based on your limited (at this time ) info.
campy is correct . a less demanding plane will be better in your situation.powered glider or electric. the Tower SSP isnt too bad .

El, I am familiar with the location and slope soaring isn't on the menu for this area. [8D]
