I bought a trainer with a Futaba 6a EZ Fly. I need to get a cord and buddy box for it so I can learn with my instructor. Anyone know what kind of buddy box I need? I'm assuming any Futaba buddy box would work. Also where do you find these cheap?

jigeye... You can use most any Futaba radio for the trainer box.. I'm not sure which
but some are not are not compatable, but very few.. I picked up a one for our club
off of ebay, I forgot what I paid for it, But think it was around $20... Do a search on
ebay and or here in the market place. You can pick up the cords sometimes on ebay,
or just about any hobby shop.. The newer radio's has the mini square plug and the
older radios has the round plugs.. But you can order any combination of the plug that
you need.. Hope this helps... You can get more info on the Futaba site...

Any Futaba will work and also the Futaba trainer box that Futaba sells for 49.99 without an RF module. Futaba also makes about three different buddy cords to fit the different plugs that Futaba has used in the past and Hanger 9 has that new buddy cord out that will buddy a Jr to a Futaba or vise versa.

Actually, before you spend money to buy one you may want to check with your local hobby shop if you have one. A lot of hobby shops have buddy boxes that they will rent for a very low fee. You can use it until you are trained and then you give it back to them. My LHS charges $10 for buddy box and cord.
Also, wait until you hook up with an instructor before you spend on a buddy box. A lot of instructors have buddy boxes of their own that they have for just this instance. I know that I personally have an Airtronics, Hitec, JR, and Futaba buddy boxes so that my students do not need to buy one.
I'm not saying that these are a 100% sure thing, but at least check them out before you spend money buying one that you may not need.
Hope this helps
