Default Hello to all

I am beginner here. I hope this the place to start an introduction. If not, please feel free to move to the appropriate forum. I surfed in from a search on yahoo. It wasn't even related to RC's. I was searching the new stihl br600's....anyways. I bought my first electric plane this past summer and lost it (blew away). I wanted to buy a helicopter and was told at the hobby shop to start at this level (electric planes) first. I bought another (an Aero-bird Challenger). I plan to slowly get into this hobby. I was bored and thought this will help occupy some time.

Thanks for reading. I hope I didn't bore you!

Lug-nut,
Welcome to the addiction that is RC flying, and welcome to RCU. RCU is a great place to get help that you may need in the hobby as well as making some friends and having some fun along the way. Please make yourself comfortable and feel free to post any questions that you may have.

Ken

Lug-nut. Welcome to RCU and flying. This a great source of information for beginners and others. Take some time to look around the different forums that are available, lots of good stuff...

In addition to RCU and your local hobby shop (LHS), another important source of information is local fliers. The best way to hook up with them is either through your LHS, or the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). The AMA web site has a club locator that might help you find a local club: http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx . Don't be shy about contacting a local club and going out for a visit. Modelers in general are very friendly and most of us seem to have an ingrained desire to help people learn.

Yeah, Lug Nut.

This forum helped me solo last year and now I have this hobby as a 'budget item'. I wish there were a way to write this off!!

Things to tell your wife/significant other.

1) No that's not new. I got that a while ago.

2) I had better call the fraud department and find out who is using my card at the hobby shop....again.

3) The garage is 'my sanctaury',I need to spend time there to unwind. It helps our relationship.

4) It's waay cheaper than golf.

5) LOOK OVER THERE!! ( run away)

Enjoy!!

Hello Lug-nut, First of all Welcome & yes you are in the right place! As Ken & Chuck have told ya, this is a great place to meet ppll with the same affliction, & learn how to deal with it. Very good advise from Chuck that you go visit your local club, you'll really get hooked as soon as you go & see some nice birds in the air. You're gonna wanna run straight to the LHS & go hog-wild, but don't! Talk to them first, get some good advice and of course you'll find tons of advice in here too! I imagine it won't be very long before you're wanting a glow fuel powered Trainer. Once you've gone there, there is no turning back! Enjoy & have fun, don't be afraid to ask questions, that is what this forum is about.

Thanks for the welcome. I can't wait till the weather gets warmer and I try out this newer plane. I had the white version of the same plane blow away. Someone suggested elsewhere to get one with elevators. So, I bought the same plane, but with elevators. After being at the hobby shop, I can see it getting very expensive. I am not married, so I have only one person to explain to (me) lol. Once I get my feet wet, I will gain more knowledge on how to fly, then upgrade. Thanks again members!
