Default My son and I are certified!

Well, several weeks ago I reported that my 13 year-old son had soloed our Alpha 60. Today was our first chance to fly since that day and I am happy to report that we both soloed and were certified to fly on our own after a few hours on the buddy-box! He is still a little ahead of me as he looks rock solid - only needing to work on his inital line-up of the centerline (but he is great at using the rudder to correct during his approach). I need a little work on both those areas as I occasionally need to go around for another pass. Depth perception is not a great strong point.[&o] But hey, this was a long time coming for me as my older brother and I built a SIG cadet almost 30 years ago, but then couldn't afford the electronics (isn't it great how that is the one thing in the world that gets cheaper over time!). So, needless to say, I look forward to getting better!

BTW, I'm in the waiting line for a BTE Venture 60. I assume that this is a good choice for a second plane from what I have read.

I've enjoyed reading the posts on this board and am sure that I will have questions in the future!

Happy flying,

Jeff

Jeff,

I'll create an ATTABOY for the both of you but I need to know how you want the names to read for each. If I do not get to it tonight RCKen might beat me to it

Jlimey,
Congrats on the solo flight. I know it's a great feeling when you do solo. Heck, I bet you still have that silly little smile on your face don't you?? Don't worry about it, I had the same smile for about 3 weeks.

A solo flight is a great accomplishment and that wins you one genuine RCU ATTABOY (Suitable for framing, wrapping fish, or lining trashcans).

Didn't I already do a certificate for your son?? If not let me know his name and I'll get one out for him too.

Chuck,

We are flying out of Flying Tigers of Jordan Lake. Are you the Chuck that I know?

Ken, yes you did an "attaboy" for my son earlier. Thanks,

Jeff

Yup, that would be me. Small world, eh? Now, please don't blow my cover by telling Ken or anyone else here how bad I really fly!

Depth perception is not a great strong point.[&o]
I'd break a prop a landing because my depth perception was so poor. Then, I stopped wearing sunglasses, and I haven't broken a prop in a year!

gjeffers,

I wasn't on RCU when I soloed 2 1/2 years ago, so I guess I can't complain [&o]

Sun_Kissed_Girl is gonna solo soon, so I hope that RCKen or Bubbagates has a "Attagirl"

Happy landings! (Most of you probably don't see me here that much because I'm in the Electric Cars, Buggies, and Trucks forum, even though I have more planes than cars )

The venture is a great kit to build...

Almost everything hte pre-sanded so all you need in the end is a light sanding to get ready for the covering. I got the last Venture kit on the last run, its just about done now...just some covering and adding the electronics and she'll be in the air...

Good choice, and worth the wait.
