Default os .40 fp

I have an old os .40 fp and don't have the manual for it. The engine was discontinued and the os site doesn't have a manual available for download. It has never been ran as I received it as a gift back in '97. Anyway, is the .40 LA close enough that I can use the settings and instructions from it or does anyone have any suggested settings for the first start and break in.

It might be a couple of days before you hear back from them. It took about a week for them to get me one for a 61FP I had a few years ago.

As far as it sbeing setup the same as the LA version I cannot really asnwer that one for you

The OS 40 FP is one of the best engines made. As for settings, just start with the needle valve being turned out three turns and go from there. Run it rich for the first few tanks of fuel and then fine tune it. Good Luck, Dave

You can just use the LA 40 manual. The engines are pretty much the same in the way they operate.

Agree with W8YE, I have several of these little gems and the carbs are interchangeble with the LA. Only major difference is the LA has rear needle and the FP has the needle on the carb, but both are air bleed idle, simple and reliable. The LA manual for break-in and engine adjustment has worked fine for me, but this engine is so simple, who really needs a manual???

Note; I had one with a Macs muffler on it and it would spin an APC 12.25X3.75W prop on 15% nitro without a problem. They breakin very quickly and are easy to set the carbs on.

Have fun with it.

Hurrah, will ping bax about this engine. My version, for information, came from one of my club colleages and it is not the same as my 40 LA. Two key differences 1. extra exhaust port, 2. dual needle carb, the LA has the open hole air bleed type carb. Otherwise bushed bearing crank etc is the same.

Then it's not the original carb. All the FP models were air-bleed.

You are probably on your own with that one?

There are some other simular discontinued engines that use the same parts.

Magnum GP40
Thunder Tiger GP40
Tower 40

Tower has most Tower 40 parts on hand.

Enjoy,

Jim

The FP carb

Tower also has most FP parts in stock. Why substitute?
