Welcome to RCU. Have you tried the AMA club locator? http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx
This is the best source for clubs and instructors.

Go check out the club in your home town and get with one of the instructors and let them help you with what would work best for you at their club. Most instructors have a plane they like to train on and when they have that type they feel better and probably do a little better with it and the student. If nothing else you may meet some nice folks that like to help new people. ENJOY !!! RED

Cool, I think you'll be happy with a club. Your time on the simulator and with other planes will definitely help. If you've been doing this on your own, you may have developed some habits that the instructor will ask you to change. There are many trainers available. One note, among the flying crowd, we use the term "gas" different from the car crowd. If you say gas to us, we take it to mean gasoline. I suspect when you use the term "gas" you mean glow fuel, right? There are many good glow trainers out there. You will see many threads on this subject. Nexstar, Avistar, Simplestar, Bestintheworldstar (just kidding on those last 2) are a few. There's also the Tower Trainer that's a good value and works well. When you are getting ready to buy, I'd suggest buying the individual components, ARF plane, engine, radio, etc, rather than an RTF package. You'll spend about the same amount of money, but you'll end up with much better components.

Clayton, I received and answered your PM. I also checked the info on your home town club and it looks like a bargain to me. $20.yr dues is real cheap. They also have club trainer aircraft so you could be in the air immediately.
