Hi All,
We all know that flight sims can cost over $200. Well, there's a solution. Theres a internet downloadable FREE flight sim called fms. For those who dont know about it, it can be controlled by a keyboard or joystick and while its not identical to Rc flight, It can be used for beginners (and more expirienced flyers on a bad day) just to get a taste of rc flight. Below is a link And there are many versions to download but I recomment the BETA 7 version.

You can also go to www.rcsim.de to download the latest versions of the sim, as well as hundreds of aircraft and scenery.
For those who have a sim. there are planes for download for the more popular ones.

I have G2 & have downloaded the free one, but I wish I knew where I could get an interlink cord for it so I could use one of my radios with it, just for the extra planes.

I can't remember where I've found it, but just search for a RC Transmitter to PC cable (or cord) and you'll find one.

passionatepilot,
The link I posted is a host of things.. Moslty it's airplanes and heli's for all the different sims, Including FMS.
You can download FMS (all te versions) off the site, then as many airplanes and Heli's as you want. There's also scenery and, under tools there's some kind of program, I can't think of it's name, but it allows you to change the aircrafts weight, power, prop, control surface size, and deflection. All thats for the FMS sim.!
All you have to do is, go to the site and register. Then If you want stuff for FMS.. Click downloads, then looks till you see FMS and click on it. Then you can choose which version you have (2.7x or 2.8x). Or you can choose "FMS Programm" so that you can download it if you don't already have it.
For the guys who own sims: Reflex, RealFlight, AeroflyPro, and FMS all have downloads on the site.

When I first started getting into flying rc planes I tried fms and thought it was junk. I know it is a free download but I fell it was a waste of time installing it into my computer. If anyone is thinking of trying Fms they would be better buying an interface cable so you can use your tx. better still try the demo of realflight G3 or AFPD

You're right, It is junk... IF you leave it as is. But you can download other planes and customize them to be more realistic.. I fly 3D on the thing and it was a big part of my flying a year or so ago when it helped me learn to hover.. It's great for learning the inputs for different manuevers. I've for AFPD and sure it's in a different league. But for FREE, you can't beat FMS. Better than nothing. I wish I could make an FMS video to show what it's capable of.

You know what, Im gouing to register right now and download as many planes as possible. I hate the fact that you cant stall though on the game.
Ps. I dont think the games junk to beginners that have nevere touched a plane, It gives them a chance to scratch the surface on rc airplanes.

Where did it say you couldn't stall? With some of the downloadable planes you stall at both slowspeeds and get a chance to experience a high speed stall.
(Man it sounds like I'm sponsored by that site!

I cant download any new planes cause I dont have winzip and I think its a rip off to download so ive only flown the original planes of fms and they have never stalled; they just drop their nose slightly when you cut the throttle completely and pull full up elevator.
