Default Need Help

This is my second plane I have put together, the first was a modeltech Luckystick, now I am trying to put together a Modeltech Magic Extra, I got my wings finished and everything, and was installing my Horizontal stabilizer and did my measurement for wing tip to the stabilizer and adjusted to make the distance equal, but now my problem is that with them equal i am about a 1/2 inch short on one side of the stabilizer, one side is 9 3/8 from the fuselage and the other side is 9 3/4. and now my elevator control surfaces are off set due to this, will the be a major concern, should I cut the stabilizer back out and try resetting it, and if so HOW? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

on the Magic it will not matter, that isn't a precision flying plane, more a yank and bank, finish building and go fly, the plane is a lot of fun,the landing gear can't handle a lot of abuse.

Were A and A1 (on page 10) equal?
If they were equal, they Stab should have lined up easily.

When I started on the Stab, I mis-read the bottom of page 13.
It says to put the T-pin in the TE of the stab. I mis-understood somehow and pinned down the LE.
Could not get the stab to line up at all!
Putting the T-pin in the center of the stabs TE, should keep the
control surfaces cented up on the tail.
If the main wing is centered, then you should only have to tweak the stab (LE) a small amount. It should 'Pivot' (last item on page 13.

If you have the rudder fin installed, that would make it a lot harder to remove the stab. Removing it might tear up the wood a lot.

I've seen stabs that were offset from the wing about 3/4" and the plane flew just fine. However, if the offset is going to mess up the location of the control horns & push rods so they can't be hooked up per the manual, I would think about removal.

Maybe a very thin razor saw could be used to cut a line above and below the stab. You would be cutting wood, not epoxy.
Once it was out, you could carefully remove the glued balsa from the stab and add some spacer wood when you re-installed it.

Maybe you can just install the controll horns as they should be and adjust the contoll rod by using 2 pair of pliers to make 2 very slight bends in the rod so as to align with the horns.
If your kit came with those plastic rods remove them and get metal ones, I think thats much easier than tearing that plane apart and thats just what will happen.
Like Terrell Flier said its not a precision aircraft, just a trick doer. After all, if your not happy after flying, you can always do the drastic deed later?
