Well, due to a number of conflicting problems, I manged to break my plane >_< Coming in for a landing and a gust of wind threw me off so that I came down with a good hit on the left land gear. The result was that that section of balsa split and is now basically just hanging from one side now and a broken prop. What would be the proper way to go about fixing this? I've got it in my head that its a simple as lathering it down with epoxy and making sure it all goes back together in the right shape, cleaning it up and putting a fresh skin over it all. Do I have the right idea or am I totally off?

SOUNDS GOOD TO ME HOWEVER DOUBLE IN CRACKS YOU HAVE ON THE INSIDE OF THE FUSE AND RE BALANCE THE PLANE

Depending upon how much "lathering it down with epoxy" you do, you could add a lot of weight. If you can get the pieces to fit back together well, then push things back into shape and use thin CA for glue. Do not get carried away with the CA as it will make it harder to sand smooth. After sanding, cover and re-balance.

Sounds like a perfect oppertunity to turn it into a tail dragger to me.

a situation I have found my self in also. here's a tip if the saddle that holds the gear in is broken you might want to epoxy the area and add with some extra balsa at the broken area if needed if not then just thin CA the cracks after lining up the peices the thin soaks into the cracks and glues it all together a note look at the area closely for seperation and CA any of the dammaged areas. I have repaired this area a few times after hard landings just don't add to much epoxy, it does weigh a ton so only in the stress points you should need it
