Hey there
I have just got a Hitec Flash 5 X radio, OS 46LA and a World Models Super Frontier Trainer. Does anyone have this plane, if so is it any good? Do you have any tips in the process of building it? The guy at the hobby store recommended the computer radio because it has EPA and a like.
Thanks

I can only think of two things off hand as it's been a while since I had a similar trainer. Don't finish the plane until you've dry fitted and balanced everything, obviously.
Watch the wing crutch in the fuse area, as initially it might fit nice and snug, but when you apply the finish, it gets a little tight. So sand about 1-2 MM after you've dry fitted it, and then when you apply your MonoKote or whatever finish you decide on, you'll be golden.
On the other hand, if you set the wing in the crutch, and you notice some slack, your also golden. Keep in mind this changes from plane to plane and from building skill to building skill. Just take your time, ask questions, learn, and you'll be pleasantly surprised on how the plane looks in the end!

Simon,
did the guy at the hobby store recommend the 40LA as well? If so, ask to exchange it for something a little better. A Thunder Tiger Pro .46 or a Magnum .46 XLS are not much more money, but much better performers.
Good Luck

From: Oklahoma City, OK,
My best friend bought the frontier 40 and is using it to learn to fly so far so good...it is a decent plane. Has about half inch more length on each wing than most trainers except the LT 40. Only thing he had to do was with his 46fx he put in it he had to notch quite a bit out of the nose for the high end mixture valve to fit ...other than that i thought his plane is quite decent for a trainer. His was a bit easier to put together than my Kyosho 40. I had more little quarks i had to deal with....no big things just annoying.
So...Yes..seen it ..watched it be built...saw it fly...good trainer!!!

Welcome to this great hobby and good luck $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ And oh, that's just how much I have spent so far! Not to put you off, but sometimes it is worth it to spend a little more for something better than to end up with something cheaper that becomes useless real fast. You have a good combination. Enjoy !

Cheaper can be good too! I own a TT GP 42 and I really like the little thing. Didn't cost much, and it runs like...well,really good. But if you have an engine already such as the OS, and it's appropriate, then run it. It should be fine as Simon's first plane, and engine setup. Keep us informed of your progress, and if you haven't already, you should arrange some instruction.Have fun with it!

Hey
I've been without Internet for the last week sorry for the length of time it has taken it reply.
WOODSY, I live in Glen Iris (MELBOURNE). Have visited SPAD Thanks
To the rest of you I really don’t have the extra money at this time for a FX or Thunder Tiger Pro .46 or a Magnum .46 XLS. I found them to almost be over $100 more expensive. Anyway I got the LA cheap.
