Default How to mount new engine

Hey guys, sorry if this is posted in the wrong area.

I have a Great Planes Big Stick .40 with an O.S. Max .40 LA engine. (9.5 oz). I am going to install a Tower Hobbies .46 (16.9 oz).
Do I mount this engine further back on the mount or in the same place? Also will I have to add alot of weight to the rear of my plane? What other problems should I expect?

Thanks

I would expect to mount it as far back on the mount as you could. Assemble the plane and just set it there and see how it balances but I would expect the result I gave. Then, before adding any weight, start by moving anything you can from the front to the back. Battery pack, receiver, maybe even slide the empty fuel tank back if you can. Then tank won't help much but anything to avoid adding weight. If using a heavy prop nut, ditch that and use a standard nut/washer. Only once you have shifted all you can do you want to add weight. [:@] Got the idea?

Mount it in the same place.
It may be a little more nose heavy but that will not hurt the plane

Do both of those weights you list INCLUDE the muffler? I might be mistaken, but I seem to remember my OS .40LA being quite a bit heavier than 9.5oz, I seem to remember something more like 13~14oz. If that's the case, you won't have to change much around for balance.

I'm going by the weights posted on the OS website and Tower Hobbies website.

OS lists the LA at 9.5 w/o the muffler and Tower lists the 46 at 16.9 with the muffler. Not going to be a lot of difference. Gotta read the small print. A little part shuffling at the worst.
