Hello there guys, My brother in law bought a cheap (seriously cheap) electric plane, its given me the bug to wanting to go and get one myself but wanted something that would last rather than something small and pathetic, Electric seemed the way to go, looked perfect for me so without too much thought put into it I bought a Parkzone Focke Wolfe. Now its all built and fully charged and Ive had 5 attempts at flying, all 5 attempts I crash and burned into a nose dive within 2 seconds of being released. Even had the Bro In Law run with it whilst I was on full throttle and putting some elevation onto it, he said he felt like it was lifting so let go where it just turned to the left and shot off into the ground. Am I doing something blatantly obvious thats wrong? All the flaps are lined up with the bodywork straight and seems to respond well to the controller etc. Im in mode A aswell.

Any tips would be great, Im in the UK aswell, notice you lot seem to be in the states so not sure if theres any differences on the laws, Dont want to be told off for noise levels or anything like that although I dont think I have anything too serious.

Doing something wrong? Well, I won't pass judgement and say what you are doing is "wrong", but I will say that you've managed to discover what many of us say. It's very difficult to learn to fly without getting help, and with a plane that's not a trainer.

I suggest contacting a local hobby shop to find someone who knows how to fly. I also suggest finding a more appropriate, slower and more stable, plane to learn with. If you absolutely insist going it alone, consider buying a simulator so you can crash and burn on the computer rather than with a plane that will have to be repaired.

You can download and try the free flight sim called FMS and give it a go. At least you are not wasting any more money while you learn to control a plane. You might even figure out what you were doing wrong(besides not getting help before attempting to fly by yourself).

The parkzone deals are pretty docile. Like many mid to low wing models they like to snap when they are slow. You need a good hard throw and throw it straight out instead of up at full throttle. and pay attention to the model. it is going to want to fall off to one side until it get up to speed. Of course this is what happens when you try to go it alone. This would be doable if the model was already trimmed out but since it's not and you don't have the experience the inevitable happens not to mention now the model has had a few run in it not going to be true. Well I bought it ignoring advice about getting something a little more simpler I just looked at the trainer stuff and thought nar it looks cack My fault I know and being a bit egar Ive probably jumped in at the deep end. I dont know any local clubs etc so thats put me on the back foot already although Im going to seek help from my local shop. Cheers, I dont think it'll survive another crash landing

Local hobby shops should know where the clubs are and phone numbers to contact people. If there is a club nearby see if you can arrange a visit. An hour with a club member will save you hours single handed research. [8D]
