Default Finally Real Flight!!

Well guys I finally put down the AFPD simulator and had a go at real flying this week end. Not been able to find an instructor or club with open membership in my area so just decided to go for it after around 6 months on the Sim.

Maiden'd my electric World Models Cub - 3 flights with 3 really nice landings. Just can't wait to do it agian and get an IC plane.

The Simulator really does help a great deal. I can't fully agree with the view that they do not give an accurate representation.

Congrats!

Most experienced flyers find that they don't give accurate representations because they are used to the nuances found in real flight. However, as a beginer, you probably aren't aware of these things yet, so it wouldn't be a problem. I used a simulator to help me learn, and it was money well spent. I still use it sometimes.

Keep at it, that IC plane will be a piece of cake!

Thunderbolts,
good deal!

You are just another example of the FACT that you can learn to fly IF YOU PUT IN THE TIME on a good flight sim.. AFPD is about the best there is IMO and I have tried most of them. There are a LOT of folks that refuse to accept that a person, given the time and patience.. Can learn to safely takeoff, fly and land with ease on their 1st try using only a flight simulator. You just have to put in the stick time and IF YO HAVE NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE, it can be done!

I still like the idea of using an instructor if there is any possible way to do so though.. Theres just something really neat about the bond you get with your instructor, the fun of seeing yourself go from totally retarded to a really good pilot with the help of a fellow human being. Plus you get the value of learning about all of the functions and setup of an RC plane.
