Default Help with Evolution trainer power system !!!

Hello,
I've purchased LT-40 ARF & installed Evolution trainer power system engine. I few with the help of instructor for about 3 times & instructor told me that it is running little rich & needs new spark plug.
Since then I replaced plug & it still did not run to his liking.

He told me to remove limiters so that he can adjust it further. Now I have completely changed factory set positions. Is it possible to go back to factory settings? Personally, I liked the way it was running factory set.

My probelm is that I hve been spending lot of time adjusting this engine then actually flying.

Anybody had a simillar issues with this engine?

If this does not work then I may have to buy new engine so that I can start flying & save Evolution for the next plane.

Which good reliable engine you would recommend in .40 to .46 size that is easier to set up & run for beginner.

Thanks for your help

I can not say how to set it back to factory settings, but if you go to the Horizon web site i am sure that they will be glad to tell you. I can say that i have a Hangar9 PTS Mustang and the Instructor that trained me was delighted at how the engine ran and preformed. His main plane is a 102 inch YAK with a twin gas. And his comments have always been how great it runs time after time. It put out this grayish stuff for a while and now runs great.

That is a great engine, but they did have a few problems with setup at the factory. Here's how to adjust it:

Remove (Or loosen) the Low-End Limit collar.

Close the carb so that it is only open 1 millimeter

With the carb in that position, close the Low-End needle and open it 1 1/5 (One and One Fifth) turns

Replace the (Or tighten) the Low-End Limit Collar

thanks for your reply.
One of the guy at the field was able to set idle very well since I took limiter collar out. However after that when I apply full power, engine struggled & took some time to get to high power. They were reffering it as "Loading up" at low end. Actually couple of other people at field were surprised at how nicely it idles.

Engine would then quit as we apply full power

schokshi, there is one more thing that gave me fits, it is the little o-ring that goes under the carb that seals any air from leaking by, might check to see if its intact and that the carb body is down tight aginst it
if its leaking its almost impossible to tune.
