Default First flying experience... Wow'ed..

So i have been in contact with this nice instructor as a nearby Club. So finally the weather looks good and off i go..

40 min later i arrive at the field at 8am.. Early bird gets the wurm? =)

we meet up.. Chat it up some and generally just talk about everything and anything. He shows me 2 of his planes he brought.. I took out my plane and we looked it over.. checked everything out Did some adjusting.. tweaked this that..

Needless to say by now IM Shaking in my boots excited.
Take in mind.. my only flight experience is about 20 seconds of a foamy before it decimated it self =)

So He says.. hey i got a trainer box would you like to Come up and try out my plane for a bit..

*stomach dropped* considering basicly it was going to be comming to the field.. checking out.. us breaking in/going over my plane and just all the general run of the mill stuff.

SO with a pretty strong wind.. he took it off.. made it look easy lol.. The plane was kinda shaking around.. definatly windy he was saying and yeah maybe this isnt a good time to try.. but We went for it..

he gave me the count down.. 3...2...1... Your control

I practiced just like in the flight sim doing a Figure 8.. nice and easy.. round and round.. after about 1 min.. he said.. Are you sure you have never flown before.. I smiled and said.. first time .. really =-) He retook control and brought it in for a very smooth landing.

We talked about what i was doing up there.. controls alierons how to keep the plane level when turning and not go up or down.. All in all.. was just freeking awesome.

After a bit of that I asked him if he would take my plane up and just see how it flies that kinda stuff. He said sure.. and went over it it crashes i cant go after him all that legal stuff. yadda yadda..

SO We got my nexstar all fueled and ready.. Go time..

I taxied it onto the run way.. and gave the control over..

he trippled checked everything.. and throttled it up.. It pulled down the runway.. and them Voosh.. it pulled skyward.. I was in awe.. literally. it was pure bliss at that point. after a few trims it was flying awesome.. after a short time he brought it in.. little hot.. and it made a smooth awesome landing.

So we chatted and talked planes and Everything.. All in all 4 hours later.. Im even more hooked then before.

So I just submited my AMA registration.. and this week ill be attending a club meeting and joining up with them so i can continue my training.

Heres a few pictures from the day.

What a great feeling. I had my maiden on my trainer yesterday and my first two training flights today. Feels great don't it?
If you are anything like me, you are hooked for life.
Best of luck

That's great. How about giving the guy a pat on the back. Put his first name and club on the post.

Fortunately, it's an addiction that has no known cure.

True, but marriage and children can cause a temporary remission!

Temporary being the keyword... because if you're like my dad eventually your kid gets into it, now you need new planes for both of you!

Yup, You're toast!! Hope you don't live in the dorms because you're gonna need alot more room for all the planes you're about to buy in the next year or two. Welcome to the desease.[&:]

Whatever you're feeling now - it just gets worse (addiction wise)

Your first roll, your first landing, your first solo flight....

Looking through the catalogs dreaming of how something flies. And then, sometimes they get bigger - and you start looking for a trailer...and...and

Recently, my disease took a turn for the worse, and spread to other areas. I bought a Traxxas Revo 3.3 Monster Truck. Now to fuel my R/C addiction, I can romp around in the back yard with my revo during the week, and fly on the weekend

BTW guys, the 4*60 is flying like a champ and she is fast with that Saito 100.

Congrats on the first flight. I still remember, and have pictures from mine..

(Never fly on a public road. It's very dangerous, and I probably should never have done it even though there was only a car every 15 minutes)

A duck? [sm=bananahead.gif]

I fly to relax. I run boats for the competition. My fastest boat right now will do a little over 60 while racing. The others all do 40+. When you combine these speeds with a 1/6 mile oval, it can be quite a rush. My next boat will run in the 70s in racing trim! [X(]

Chuck you ever make it up to NY for any races? Theres a pond near my house that holds races. Some weekends there will be a whole bunch of RVs there. Never made it over to watch one though.
