Default Starter Question

Anyone tried this starter combo pack from tower?
Is it stable ? I am lookin for a simple starter for my Rascal 40 's OS46FX engine...

Let me know if the hobbico starter is better than tower starter. Is there any other starter that comes with the battery attached and cheap?
Thanks

I have a couple of those Tower starters that my Dad gave me & a Hobbico starter that I bought. If one is any better than the other I certainly haven't noticed it. They both seem to work equally well for me.

hello , I am using a HT Racing starter, made by Tiawan Hobby Corporation. It has 2, 7.2volt batteries, two motors coupled through a gearbox, and starts my 90 size engines with no problem what so ever. I fly 7days a week, with an average of 6 flights a day, and i only have to charge it once every 3 months. The batteries are encased in the body of the starter, and it is surprisingly light for the power it puts out.

That battery pack is great. It gives you a safer and more convenient to use starter. It's worth it.

I use it and it's excellent. In a week, I fly more days than not and recharge every couple of days.

It's not only safer to not have a cord, but it allows me to grab the sucker and run out to restart engines that died taxiing out etc.

Spane a few more bucks and go to Hobby Lobby for a Kavan starter and the complete setup. Had the Tower self contained starter ans wasn't satisfied until a friend buillt a new more powerful battery for it.

the tower starter works great I havn't used the charger . I use a 12v battery and a power pannel for fuel pump, glow driver, starter. with all the xtras it still turns over my OS91 fs and not a problem for my OS46 ax

You certainly don't need anything special then. Geared starters would be massive overkill and a horrendous waste of money. And more battery power isn't going to give you anything more except expense. And two motors coupled together would be an amazingly wasteful purchase for a 46.

What you've got linked is an excellent choice for your needs. And will work for lots bigger engines is those needs ever change.
I'm using the Hobbico with that battery setup and a guy I fly with has the Tower starter with that battery setup and they both work equally well, excellently well. It's a great combo.

The only difference between the Tower starter and the Hobbico starter is probably the label. Hobbico makes both.
