Ok how bad is it when your wife calls you and asks,"Are you going to fly after work there is supposed to be no wind?" right then and there I can not think jof work the rest of the day of coarse. So I go home at lunch and get the planes loaded in the truck, bring them back into the office so I can throw them on the charger. I now have more rc equipment on my desk than I do actual work. I guess I have got it preety bad. I know that I should give flying a rest after nine hours of flying on sunday.

Been There. Done That. And I only have one plane. Can't imagine how much I would call in if the wife let me buy enough electics and engines to fly all the planes I have.

Hi, my name is Jim and I am an RC addict!!
I have not soloed yet but I can't stop myself.
I have 2 airplanes and 3 helis ready to fly, I have an ARF and 2 kits (short term and long term builds) on the work table, I have 4 other kits stored away and I have 1 more ARF in a UPS truck on its way to me now.
Yes I am addicted but it is a healthy addiction

Well where i live, you might get gale force winds 5 days a year, you might get rain 30 days a fear , so that leaves 330 days for flying , and i use everyone of those days to go and have 4 or 5 flights.inthe mornings. So does that make me addicted?

My name is Tony and I am an RC Aholic too. It has been 15 minutes since my last flight.

I have suprised the wife many times at home with Lunch when my real intention was to just come home & grab my plane to fly after work.
I now have a plane that I just keep in my truck all the time including full charge gear.
I have been reprimanded at work for flying my foamy on the roof of the parking ramp.
I still go flying on bad weather days with the flight sim & am starting to get good enough where I'm flying my foamies in the basement when it gets dark...
I read every post in almost every airplane thread on RCU.
But, I can quit any time.... Really!

Hello,
My name is Bill
I'm a plane RC plane addict and I feel there is no hope for me
I only know of one cure for the twitching, sneezing, coughing, headache, drooling and other things and that is to hit Composite Arf's, Tower Hobbies, Horizon hobbies Wildhare RC's and others sites and spend money.
With this in mind I already feel better but something appears to be missing. Ah Ha, I know what it is, I'm not at the field...or I'm not assembling my latest ARF.
Now if there is ever another cure found then keep it away from me, I do not want to be cured, I just want a bigger, make that WAY BIGGER, bank account to afford all of the things that bring on these shakes, droolings and stuff that get worse instead of going away when I visit the sites I listed before.
I beleive my signature says it all
Ok, I've got to go to the doctors office, err, I mean the field now so I can get "cured" for a little while

I try to fly about once/twice a week at the moment. Regarding building though... I almost feel like I need another build going now even though I just finished my second kit. It's therapeutic and rewarding as all get out. No email, cell, TV...nothing. Just me trying to assemble a pile of sticks hoping it'll take to the sky. My LT-40 kit build was a gateway build... the addiction is setting in nicely. Just finished my second kit build and droolin over prospects of purchasing stuff for my next(3rd) build.
....... which will prolly be a Sig Hog Biplane w/ a Futaba flight kit and an O.S. FS-91 II Surpass. I've learned much on each build that I look forward to applying to my next build.
Yeah - I dig this hobby.

I keep all my stuff in the van ready to go so I can take off any time. With a field charger I can charge on the way to the field if I need to.
Today at work I spent the whole today designing a cowling for my Fourstar. I have the luxury of having AutoCAD and MasterCAM to use at work. So instead of doing work I can design and cut plane parts on a 3 axis CNC router.
I keep both running at the same time as to keep work on one and plane stuff on the other. If my boss comes in my office I switch to the work screen real quick.
Yes I am a sicko I know it but someone has to be.[sm=thumbup.gif] [sm=thumbup.gif]

You're such a pal, I just want to help you get over this addiction. It'll be rough on me, but go ahead and ship that Ultimate up to me. That way you won't be tempted to fly it anymore!!!!!

Well Ken you know I could actually do that a lot easier than you might think
,, and in a shoe box.. Due to poor maintenance on my part, about 6 weeks ago the top wing tube broke and 3 wings sheered off in flight.. My beautiful Ultimate is no more. The vibration chatter between the wingtube and the plate that rides between the top wings ( allows you to bolt tthe top wing to the center cabane) caused the tube to get brittle. I failed to tighten the front center cabane bolt tight enough and it vibrated out in flight.. The tube was weak and it snapped clean at the centerpoint. Once the top wing broke the lower wings folded back and ripped right off of the lower wingtube,,, that was all she wrote..
That actually brings up a useful point. You guys that fly biplanes,, check you wingtubes frequently for wear, especially at the afformentioned location. The wear wasnt that visible from the outside, but looking at the cross section of the tube youc an clearly see that it had been beaten (relatively) thin by the vibration. There was just enough thinning to allow it to snap like a dry twig when the wings were allowed to flex in flight. I would replace the tubes every couple hundred flights at the most mayb emore frequently depending on the wear you observe.

Hello, my name is "John Doe" and I'm an RC addict.
It started last year about this time and has escalated since then. It's really gotten out of hand. If I'm not flying, I'm building. If I'm not building, I'm on RC Universe. If I'm not on RC Universe I'm thinking about flying. If I'm not thinking about flying, I'm at work (maintenance/machinist) working on something for my hobby....errr...my addiction.
I've retrofitted my den into my model shop/workshop/plane shop etc. I'm beginning to think that this addiction is going to take over my entire existence. I'm scared.......
NAHHHHHH.....I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!!!!!!
I started when I was 29 but kicked the idea around in my head for 10-12 years before that. I just never knew anyone who was into the hobby. Now that I'm into it I've began "recruiting new blood" to help keep the hobby alive and doing well. Also, now that I'm into this I will always be into this. I fly all day on either Saturday or Sunday and usually a couple afternoons a week.
I thank everyone that helped me and if there's anything I can contribute to help someone else please feel free to ask.
