I am so excited I just wanted to share.
I have made 11 (maybe 12, will explain) traing flights thus far, this includes the usual left hand turns, right hand turns and figure eights. I have 5 takeoffs and finally today 2 landings.
Both went great and the first one was a surprise (my instructor didn't tell me I was going to land)
He had me make a couple of slow passes over the runway, on the second pass he told me to throttle down, keep the wings level and when I got low he told me to give just a touch of up elevator. She settled right in and after a small bounce (about an inch or so) she was on the ground.
The 11 or 12 flight thing?
After the first landing I taxied to the pit area, my instructor said when my nerves are ready we would do it again, I said I am not nervous so I taxied back out and did it all over. Does that count as another flight since I never killed the engine or refueled?
Anyway. I am stoked
Next on the agenda is touch and goes.

This is the way a lot of instructors do it, including me. Trust me, I find it the best way. I've found that when I tell my students that they are going to land they get all nervous and usually can't do it. So I just "sneak" them into a landing instead. By the time they figure out that they just landed the plane has usually stopped moving and is sitting there on the ground.
Now with that said, GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!! . Reach around and give yourself a pat on the back. Congrats.
Now get back out there and do some more of 'em!!!

Same thing happened to me when I was learning. Great job Missileman!
My instructor said "We're going to work on approaches today". I didn't realize at the time that it was code for "We're landing today". So after like 10 practice approaches at the normal point to where he had been saying "throttle up and go around" - he didn't say it. The plane was about 5ft off the ground and I said "Am I landing?" His response, "looks like it". So, landed with a bounce but got it down
The next flights over the next week consisted of JUST landing. Take off, land, take off land. He drilled it in to me. So, practice! practice! practice!
It really does pay off!!

Great Job Missileman! I love hearing this kind of stuff. I started instructing just this spring and I was wondering how I was going to get some students to land. There's been a lot of students lately that have lots of sim time and can fly well but seem really nervous about landing and take off. Again, great job! Fun isn't it?

Yep, we need to sneak up on you guys and not give you a chance to get nervous. I usually start with approaches at about 10 ft passes and slowly work them down as their runway alignment improves. We have a paved runway instead of a wide grassy field so it can take a while for them to get used to centering up on the runway. Sooner of later they are flying down the centerline though.
Well done Missileman.

Lol My first landing was me flying the Pattern after having taken off the first time.. and saying.. "hey Im going to try high approaches"... he said Ok...
2 practice approaches later... He was like ok come in a little lower... and i said yanno what... why bother.. ill just land..
*picture trainer doing an amazing 3 point landing*
