I have 12 & 10 year old boys just getting into planes and I know nothing! I had a small control line when I was younger but never had much luck. For Christmas we purchased a Cox control line for them to start with, we also got the G2 but our older computer is not big enough to run it so it is in the closet until we can buy a new one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Default Welcome

Bummer the computer won't run G2. It's a really nice item and will help with learning to fly. Find a local club through the AMA site http://modelaircraft.org/templates/ama/

Since you have the Cox control line you have something to use for learning how to start an engine and a few other basics. U/C flying can be great fun and less costly than RC. Look through this site and you will find a wealth of information.

At the age of 10 and 12 they are ready to learn some serious flying, check the ama site or if you know of any clubs then check them out.You should be able to find a club with an instructor, and maybe a trainer plane with buddy box they start new pilots with.would not suggest any planes except a trainer w/flat bottom wings at this stage, radio equiment I would wait and see what the local members are using, might buy something that collects dust, and join the ama for sure. Welcome to the hobby/sport,lots of good things.

try to find an older version of real flight. I have the original version which is running on a PII 350Mhz with no problems; it has a decent video card though. There are other flight simulators as well that will do the job.

Good luck
