Today (Wednesday) I went to the field and was there at 10:30. It was sunny, and perfectly calm, I asked 2 people to take me up for a total of 3 flights and by 4:30 my chief instructor showed up at the feild. This is my second test day of a 2 day testing and the wind picked up a little which helped me with landing. The wind never scares me because I've flown in 20- 30 mph gusts and I did fine. Any way I start all my required patterns and after 3 flights of my buddy box shaking
- I don't know why- he walks over and gives me my wings. After a couple of minutes of waiting to calm my self down I go up for my first solo

, and go figure my hands shook for the next 3 flights, but still 2 great landings never the less. And what is even better the fun fly is next weekend
. unfortuneatly my dad is out of town so we can't share this moment and my mom missed my last landing
(she only saw the last flight when sh picked me up). but still i was very happy and because most of the club was there today I have a sore hand from shaking so many other hands[sm=bananahead.gif]. Who said this hobby doesn't hurt
. We finally left at 9:00
I am so happy right now that I will be smiling for a week. I would like to thank everyone at the field for helping me with my flight instruction and thank everyone here that has helped me fix my plane for the next day of flying
.
Thanks again, Dave Trimmer
P.s. from all of the different types of glues i've tried, PL Premium (400 or gold) from home depot works the best (industrial caching
)

Congrats Dave. I'm glad you had such a terriffic day. It will stay with you for the rest of your days too. Getting your wings with your first solo flight is a great accomplishment. Well done. I hope you have a great time at the fun-fly![sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

David,
Congrats, I felt the same way you did after I soloed. This is a very cool time in the hobby ... very exciting.
Now the best thing to do is practice.
I have seen many guys not practice and they get stick-shy and their skills detrieorate.
Practice, practice, practice ..... and have fun doing it!!!!!!!

I tell that to all of my students. After they have learned to take off, land, do a loop, and a roll the only thing seperating them and Chip Hyde is practice!!!!!!

That is so true!
Also having something in mind that you want to learn and practice is helpful instead of just going up and burning holes in the sky. Sometimes I takeoff and land and do that over and over ... fun, fun, fun.
