i acquired several of these engines and don't know anything about them like if they are high performance etc,it says 6.5 on one side and the k&b logo on the other,on the mounting rails i cant make out if it is actually a z but looks like it says zee custom.i want to mount one of these on a lt40.

That may be an engine custom assembled by engine builder Clarence Lee. It is a very potent engine and if in good condition could have a high value. It also has a Perry carburetor on it which is a great carb although it can be tricky to tune to a newcomer. It is an engine more suited to racing. Mr lee used to write a column for RCM magazine and now writes for another magazine. He was the designer of many engines by Veco and K&B. The parts of your engine (unless tampered with since new) were hand selected and assembled by Mr. Lee to perform to optimum for that engine.
Good motor.
BTW - It's referred to as a "Lee Custom"

thanks a lot Bruce,i ran this engine yesterday and i can say it screams.i also have two others with the same markings on them.the L on where it says lee custom is where the mounting bolt goes through the left side rail.i don't think this will be going on an lt40.....i have a 4star40 i will mount it to also a few something extras that might be better suited for these engines.

The parts are all top notch and hand fitted as said before and he also did a mod he called PDP (Perry Directional Porting) to some. This is a port timing mod ti improve performance at high RPM. Not sure ho it effects low RPM if at all. This engine is from the pre-Schnerule (boy did I spell that wrong [sm=bananahead.gif]) at was state-of-the-art at the time. Mr Lee is one of the most acknowledged engine guru's of all time. Whatever you put it on, make sure it can stand going FASSSSSST!

Another good engine. I've owned several and in fact own 2 right now. That one also has the Perry carb. Both of mine have the Perry carb and the built-in Perry pump/regulator also. I also have a K&B reverse rotation crankshaft I plan to use in one for when I get my P-38 built so it will be more scale in operation. The pump is nice because it eliminates the need for muffler pressure and allows you to place the tank more freely.
There are other 61's on the market now with more power than this one but is nostalgic. Still in production too.
http://www.mecoa.com/kb/index.htm They also sell parts.
