Default Just got Certified

Last night at 8:00pm EST, I just got certified to fly gas engined aircraft. I started on my electric Wing Dragon... then on my 15 1/2 year old Goldberg Eagle O.S. 40ts. I took off 4 times and landed three times with only one go around. Not to mention one touch and go...I came in too fast and was running out of runway. ( We had cross wind gusts up to 7 mph and the plug on my Master Box malfunctioned... loose wire somewhere, It doesn't matter I wont be needing it anymore anyway.) It's cool because I only flew my gas plane three times, thank heavens for flight simulators!

My instructor and the President are looking to see if there is any certificates left. If there isn't, do you guys know where I could order one so I could have the guys sign it?

Man it's a great feeling! I'm glad I joined a club.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
As a club President, I can tell you there is only one thrill beter than soloing for the first time, and it is watching someone successfully solo for the first time. Congratulations my friend and good for you being an AMA member and flying at an AMA sanctioned field. You have truly reaped the best of benefits offered. May you never forget the feeling that you hve felt and try to pass it on to all you know.

Congratulations

Thank you so much Chris, I'll never forget it! The last time I jumped around like a child was when I solo'd in a Cessna 150 back in 1983. I love being 40 and young! At least no one threw water on me or torn my flying shirt this time. [8D]

Yes, AMA has rules and regulations for a reason. Many people make the mistake that our planes are toys... THEY ARE NOT! I am a proud member and I always will be. The rules teaches us discipline... not only for safety reasons, but also to protect all flyer's from breaking the State and Federal Laws.

I hope everyone who reads this forum that's not a member, to please join a local AMA Club and get that nice looking blue card. Too many people fly and get into trouble because they didn't know and etc. Like it or not WE ARE RESPONSBLE! Some people... even if they don't mean to, can effect everyone by doing things there not supposed to do. Last year a guy at our club lost a few fingers, and I've been reading how our planes can kill. That alone told me this Fall I'd better join a club and learn everything I needed to know about flying. Park Flyer people are included! I fly a little Wing Dragon and at high speed it could put someone in the hospital or worse. It's fun to fly... not fun to play games, and think it can't or wont happen. I thank my higher power that someone thought about forming the AMA, not only do we meet the nicest people and see the most awesome planes, you just might make a few friends.

Appears that you soloed a glow fuel powered plane(CG Eagle/OS .40) rather than a gas powered plane. There is a difference.

Congratulations,

Yes, just last night I bought another airplane. My wife loves airplanes, especially the WWI and WWII Scale. Even though I've had the privilege of flying different aircraft, and flown a lot this year, I know I won't be ready for that until I have a few years or more under my belt.

I'm lucky to have a wife who loves airplanes. I gave up a lot to get into this sport, hobby... addiction or what ever we call it. To us, it's money well spent after our bills are paid. My wife understands me calling my Eagle "sweet heart," but she knows that she's the real Sweet Heart. If it wasn't for her, I would have never been able to do what I love to do so much.

Yes my 15 1/2 year old kit Goldberg Eagle has a O.S. 40 ts Nitro Glow engine in it. For anyone who has flown them, they are a nice forgiving bird. Even the people who have tons of experience still love to fly her. I'm picking up my flight box today from Joe (My Vice President) who sold me the plane. Joe's from old school, he buys the kits... not the ARF or ARC. I admire people like him. It seems like the kit and scratch builders are slowly fading away, but I wouldn't know, I haven't been around long enough to know.

I love the smell and sound of " Fuel Powered Aircraft "... is that acceptable? And I don't mind the clean up and playing with kitty litter... it's just part of the fun. I had fun with my electric planes, I'll fly them as a back up that's all. My real baby's have the the glow engines...because they make me glow. My favorite planes are the ones that give me no trouble.

Many thanks guy's, It's nice to have new brothers and sisters and to become a member of the team. I hope to run into some of you one day. Keep the wings level and your trim set.
