Does anyone know if the ARF version of the PTS P-51 is a plug & play or not? It looks like it is from the add pics but it doesn't really state that it is. It looks like maybe the surfaces are hinged, you can clearly see the bolt on tail-feathers & looks like the main wing does the same thing with a wing tube & a couple of bolts. I'm thinking it is just like an RTF minus the engine & radio equipment as opposed to a regular ARF still leaving lots of work to do in wing joining, hinging & setting up control horns & what not. Please let me know if this is the case or if I'm just wishfull thinking. Thanks in advance.

Currently I am assembling one togather. It is a typical ARF. You will need to hing surfaces & install radio & engine.
If you decide to use .46 size two stroke engine then there is minimum work needed to install the engine. I chose to install OS 70 4S inverted & major tear up to firewall was needed. Also, fuel tank is higher than carb so I am going to install cline regulator. In general quality of kit is very good.
One thing in general about most of the ARF, installing nut behind firewall is always a challange. I come from Auto Industry, we have host of people working on packaging aspect of any assembly. I just wonder if these ARF manufacturers have any concept of ease of installation....
BTW: Box says wingspan in 53" but it is actually 58"
Hope this helps.

Another thing to look for on the PTS. The landing gear mounts need to be reinforced. I was just working on one this weekend for a new flyer. There is apparently a backing plane inside the wing. His had come loose, and the gear could not be put into the correct position. I don't know if its accesseble before the wing is put together or not. At the very least, I would recommend putting some thin CA down the hole in the wing before mounting the landing gear to make sure the backing plate is compeletely adhered, and then using epoxy on the landing gear when its installed.
